Tradeshows are a must for some successful businesses. Exhibitors can win new clients, reinforce relationships with previous clients, find new suppliers, etc. But how do you make YOUR presence memorable to your target? Imprinted promotional items are perfect for this task.
One reason to give away promotional products at a tradeshow is to draw traffic to your booth. Given the large crowds and limited space at a tradeshow, there is great competition for the prospect's attention. You might have only three seconds to grab the attention of a passing customer. Irresistible, conversation-starting giveaways are the best way to draw in a crowd and increase attendance.
The fact that the show is attended by hundreds of potential target customers doesn't guarantee a captive audience. It's the responsibility of the exhibitor to demand the capture the attention of the customer. If possible, contact registrants by mail prior to the event to announce free tradeshow giveaways. Maybe they have to bring the mailer to the booth to redeem for a prize. This will encourage people to schedule a visit to your display during the show. Exhibitors who provide target customers with more valuable giveaways and sales incentives are the most successful in this endeavor, but smaller, less expensive items like pens, notepads and candy can be effective too. Be sure that the item has a universal appeal and that your logo or message is imprinted on it. It's even better if the theme of the item relates to your company or product.
Another reason to use imprinted items at tradeshows is to increase attendance at the show. Have you ever been a show where one bag in particular was the one that every attendee wanted to carry? That bag may have been larger, might have had a more comfortable handle, or was even "cooler" to carry around. Suddenly, attendees are all over the show floor, away from the exhibitor's booth, but advertising for the exhibitor!
Some promotions feature prizes for attendees if they're spotted wearing or carrying a certain imprinted item. This creates BUZZ, and that creates booth traffic. Booth traffic provides the exhibitor with the opportunity to deliver his message to show attendees. T-Shirts or other wearables, large buttons, large bags, badge holders, lanyards and hats are good items for this type of marketing.
